About the Opportunity

Our client is a privately owned, multi-plant manufacturing organization recognized for delivering high-quality products through a variety of manufacturing capabilities, including metal fabrication, composite manufacturing, and finishing operations.

As the company continues to support customer demand and operational growth, they are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to provide leadership for second shift manufacturing operations at their Joplin, Missouri facility.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on manufacturing leader who enjoys working directly with employees, solving production challenges, and making a meaningful contribution to safe, efficient, and high-quality operations.

Position Overview

The Production Supervisor will oversee second shift production activities across multiple manufacturing areas, including Metal Fabrication, Composites Fabrication, and Paint Operations.

Reporting to plant leadership, this individual will be responsible for coordinating daily production activities, leading employees, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring production objectives are achieved.

The successful candidate will bring strong manufacturing leadership experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to create accountability while maintaining a positive and productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities - Production Leadership & Operations

  • Provide daily leadership and direction for second shift manufacturing operations.
  • Coordinate production schedules, staffing, materials, and resources to meet safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives.
  • Monitor production performance and address issues impacting efficiency, quality, or workflow.
  • Ensure production activities are completed according to established procedures and customer requirements.
  • Partner with first shift supervisors to ensure effective communication and smooth shift transitions.

Employee Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop production employees across multiple departments.
  • Establish clear expectations for safety, quality, productivity, attendance, and performance.
  • Support employee training, onboarding, cross-training, and skills development.
  • Participate in performance feedback, employee development discussions, and hiring activities.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and professional workplace standards.

Safety, Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain a strong focus on workplace safety and compliance with company policies.
  • Ensure quality standards are maintained throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance production processes.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including 5S and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and participate in improvement activities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, Production Management, and other support teams.
  • Communicate production needs, challenges, and opportunities effectively.
  • Assist in resolving issues related to equipment, materials, processes, and production flow.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of manufacturing supervisory or production leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing strongly preferred.
  • Background in discrete manufacturing environments such as fabrication, welding, machining, composites, assembly, paint operations, industrial products, furniture manufacturing, or similar industries preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP, MRP, or manufacturing production systems preferred.

Compensation

Target compensation is approximately $80,000 - $85,000 annually, based on experience.
