This position involves specialized clerical work in maintaining, processing, and storing police records across various media. The responsibilities include assisting the public, processing criminal history background checks, record restrictions, open records requests, and tasks from the District Attorney’s office.
Key Duties
- Assist at the police department front window with police business
- Process accident, incident, and records requests under the Georgia Open Records Act
- Manage arrest record restrictions and daily monetary transactions
- Handle fingerprint requests and maintain the Records Management System database
- Follow records retention policies and purge records accordingly
- Respond to phone inquiries, review reports, and process special event permit applications
- High school diploma or equivalent; college preferred
- Minimum two years’ office experience with public interaction and customer service
- Valid Georgia Driver’s License
- Willingness to undergo a police background check and polygraph; must have no pattern of law violations
