Responsibilities
- Preparation of daily meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner).
- Assist with menu planning; review menus with supervisor to accommodate foods in season, vendor sale prices, special events, and holidays.
- Identify food and supplies needed for the next week's menus and report to the supervisor; maintain written inventories of food and dining supplies.
- Maintain a clean, orderly and safe kitchen environment.
- Ensure proper handling, labeling, and storage of food for infection control.
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills.
- Competent in organizational, time management skills and demonstrate good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED.
- Must read, write, speak and understand English at a 12-grade level or higher.
- Commercial cooking experience preferred or domestic cooking experience with large groups.
- Enjoy working with older adults.
- Maintains a current ServSafe certificate (food services sanitation certificate) or able to participate in the food services sanitation training to become ServSafe certified.
- Exhibit leadership in the kitchen and be passionate about job performance.
- Ability to lift heavy objects up to 30-pounds, stand for long periods of time, walk short distances throughout the day and tolerate the heat from the kitchen.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
