About Rosebud Preschool:
Rosebud Preschool is Portland's only Reggio-inspired, intergenerational preschool for children ages 24 months to five years old. Located on the campus of the RoseVilla Senior Living Community, our program fosters meaningful cross-age relationships, integrating seniors and children in daily activities and projects.
Position Overview:
We are seeking enthusiastic and flexible Substitute Teachers to join our on-call pool to provide coverage in our toddler (ages 2-3) and preschool (ages 3-5) classrooms. Substitutes play a vital role in ensuring continuity of care and learning when regular teachers are absent. This is an excellent opportunity for educators who enjoy working with young children in a play-based, intergenerational setting but require a more flexible schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment.
- Follow the lead teacher’s lesson plans and adapt activities as needed.
- Foster positive relationships between children, older adults, and staff members.
- Support social-emotional development by modeling and guiding respectful interactions.
- Supervise daily routines, including circle time, free play, meals, naps, and outdoor exploration.
- Assist with diapering/toileting.
- Communicate professionally with staff and families as needed.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and licensing regulations.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with young children (ages 2-5) in an early childhood setting.
- Passion for play-based learning and intergenerational programming.
- Ability to adapt quickly to different classrooms and routines.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Enrolled in CBR & ORO
- Preferred: Coursework or training in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development, or a related field.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
- Frequent bending, squatting, and sitting on the floor to engage with children.
