What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accompanist position at Rosenberg First Methodist Church?
Position Summary: The Accompanist supports the mission of Rosenberg First Methodist Church by leading and enhancing congregational worship through musical excellence, spiritual sensitivity, and collaborative ministry. This role helps create environments where people can Love Jesus, Connect with Others, Serve the World, and Reach the Lost.
Primary Responsibilities:
-Provide high-quality service music on piano and/or organ, including preludes, hymns, offertories, service music, and postludes
-Plan, select, and prepare preludes, postludes and offertories in collaboration with the Director of Worship and in alignment with the sermon series, liturgical calendar, and church vision.
-Accompany the congregation, choir, and praise band in services and weekly rehearsals
-Coordinate with the Director of Worship in worship planning
-Secure a qualified substitute when unavailable and ensure musical continuity for worship

4. Reach the Lost: By helping design worship experiences with the Director of Worship that are accessible, welcoming, and spiritually compelling for guests and spiritually curious individuals
Primary Activities:
1. Weekly: worship services, choir rehearsal, praise band rehearsal, consultation with Director of Worship
2.Yearly: participation in worship planning, preparation for special services
Qualifications:
Musical Competencies:
1. Proficiency on piano and/or organ
2. Strong sight read ability
3. Ability to read chord sheets and lead sheets
4. Experience accompanying choirs and vocalists
5. Ability to play across multiple worship styles (traditional liturgical, contemporary Praise & Worship, Gospel)
6. Proven ability to engage worshippers
Technical & Administrative Competencies:
7. Reliable personal access to a piano or keyboard for practice
8. Familiarity with or willingness to learn digital piano.
9. Proficiency in or willingness to learn digital communication and ministry management tools, including email platforms, Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets), and SongSelect

Compensation and Supervision
Status: Part-time
Hours: service times, choir rehearsals, praise band rehearsals
Salary: $150-200 per Sunday; $150 per weekly rehearsals
Organizational Relationship and Supervision: Supervised by the Director of Worship in cooperation with the Senior Pastor and Staff Parish Relations Work Area.
