Field Laborer – Grounds Maintenance Division

Wage Range: $12.00 – $16.00

Direct Report: Grounds Maintenance Foreman

Job Duties:

• Aid in the loading/unloading of trucks and trailers in the AM and PM
• Cut grass, trim edges, clean up refuse, blow trimmings, fertilize and water turf areas and perform other lawn care duties as directed by foreman
• Move and install soil, mulch and plant material to assist with the construction of landscape gardens and related areas
• Spray and dust areas to control insects and or weeds
• Operate power equipment including, but not limited to, lawn tractors, lawn mowers, line trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, pruning saws, sod cutters, chain saws, and snow blowers
• Assist foreman in daily inspections and maintenance on vehicles, tools, and equipment
• Assist foreman in other work-related duties including construction projects, shop and yard maintenance, vehicle and equipment maintenance
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times
• When necessary, communicate with customers in a polite and courteous manner
• Practice standards of cleanliness and organization in assigned trucks, trailers, equipment, jobsites, and shop/yard areas
• Snow removal duties will be seasonal

Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 year experience in Landscape/Grounds Maintenance industry
• Valid driver’s license
• Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
• Time management and attention to detail skills
• Ability to work independently with little supervision or as part of a team
• Capable of operating equipment, vehicles, and tools in a safe and responsible way i.e., trucks with trailers, zero-turn mowers, weed whackers, hedge trimmer, leaf blower etc.

Work Conditions:

• Able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly through an entire work shift
• Able to operate machinery, equipment, and tools i.e., trucks with trailers, chainsaw, hedge trimmer, weed whacker, zero-turn mower etc.
• Able to work with hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment, and all materials in a safe and respectful way
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment where stamina is required
• Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis
• Work outside in all weather conditions including heat, humidity, rain, dust, noise and cold
