Position Summary:
An Assistant Professor of Nursing is a faculty member who is responsible for the education of nursing students, development of the College of Nursing, and the advancement of his/her professional development.
Essential Functions:
- Teach and evaluate students in classroom, lab, and clinical settings.
- Plan, implement, and assess nursing curriculum and course outcomes.
- Advise and mentor students for academic and professional development.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and clinical partners to enhance learning.
- Maintain expertise in specialty area, teaching methods, and clinical practice.
- Support accreditation and program standards.
- Participate in committees and university activities.
- Foster a positive, professional learning environment and relationships.
- Work on-site 40 hours weekly with student availability.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to meet challenges of adult students with diverse backgrounds.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Requirements
- Master's degree in nursing from an NLN-CNEA, ACEN or CCNE-accredited institution.
- Demonstrated current clinical experience in the area of specialty.
- Teaching experience in nursing at the postsecondary level (preferred). If none, attend seminars for nurse educators.
- Holds current, active RN license in Nevada or Utah based on location of primary appointment.
Work Conditions
- Work is mainly indoors with occasional travel between campuses and events, including out-of-state. Some evening or weekend duties and typical office noise are expected.
