Position SummaryThe System Administrator Level 1 - FMNK will assist with the installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of core IT systems to ensure stability, performance, and security. This role supports daily operational activities while learning and applying best practices to troubleshoot issues and implement improvements.
Working onsite in Columbia, MD, you will collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to maintain uptime, address service requests, and help ensure systems are provisioned and managed consistently and securely.
Key ResponsibilitiesMonitor system health and performance, escalating issues as appropriate to ensure timely resolution.
Assist with installing, configuring, and maintaining operating systems and supporting infrastructure components.
Perform routine updates, patches, and system maintenance tasks in accordance with established procedures.
Support troubleshooting of hardware, operating system, and connectivity problems to restore services efficiently.
Document system changes, resolutions, and operational procedures to maintain accurate records.
Experience supporting Linux-based environments in an operational or support capacity.
Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (e.g., IP addressing, DNS, routing concepts) and basic connectivity troubleshooting.
Ability to follow security and operational procedures while maintaining service reliability.
Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and a customer-focused mindset.
Professional communication skills to coordinate with team members and stakeholders on technical issues.
Familiarity with virtualization and common infrastructure management practices.
Experience supporting enterprise systems across multiple environments and service types.
Knowledge of backup and recovery concepts and experience supporting routine verification or restoration activities.
Prior experience in IT operations, help desk, or systems administration roles.
Annual salary: $80,000.00 - $130,000.00
