## The Role

We're seeking an Applied AI Engineer who will own the complete intelligence pipeline of Rosebud's AI—from input processing to output generation. You'll architect the prompt engineering systems that make our AI genuinely understand users and respond with empathy, insight, and practical guidance on their personal growth journey.

You'll design comprehensive prompt architectures, implement sophisticated input classification and ontology systems, and optimize how Rosebud's AI processes, understands, and generates responses. This role requires strong engineering skills combined with deep understanding of psychology, ML concepts, and human-centered AI applications.

## What You'll Do

Prompt Engineering & AI Pipeline Ownership

- Design and maintain end-to-end prompt architectures from user input to AI response

- Build sophisticated input classification and intent recognition systems

- Develop ontology frameworks for categorizing user contexts, emotional states, and growth areas

- Implement multi-layered prompt systems that handle context, personality, and therapeutic boundaries

- Create dynamic prompt selection and optimization based on user history and current state

AI Intelligence & Psychology Integration

- Translate psychological frameworks and evidence-based interventions into prompt engineering

- Design AI reasoning chains that incorporate cognitive science and behavioral psychology principles

- Build classification systems for user emotional states, growth stages, and intervention needs

- Implement knowledge representation systems for personal development concepts and methodologies

- Create prompt systems that adapt therapeutic approaches based on user personality and preferences

System Architecture & Technical Implementation

- Design scalable prompt management and versioning systems in TypeScript/Node.js

- Build ML-powered classification and routing systems for intelligent prompt selection

- Implement real-time prompt optimization and A/B testing frameworks

- Create evaluation systems to measure AI reasoning quality, response relevance, and user outcomes

- Develop tooling for systematic prompt iteration and performance analysis

Performance & Model Optimization

- Optimize prompt performance across different AI models and prepare for model transitions

- Implement cost-efficient prompt strategies while maintaining response quality

- Build monitoring systems for prompt effectiveness and user satisfaction metrics

- Create automated testing frameworks for prompt consistency and safety boundaries

Product Integration & Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Work with engineering team to implement prompt systems in production environments

- Collaborate with product team to ensure AI intelligence enhances overall user experience

- Partner with data team to analyze conversation patterns and optimize prompt effectiveness

- Support marketing team with AI personality consistency across all user touchpoints

## What You Bring

Engineering & Technical Skills

- 6 years software engineering experience with TypeScript/JavaScript

- 2 years hands-on experience with LLM APIs, advanced prompt engineering, and AI model optimization

- Experience with ML concepts including classification, embeddings, and semantic similarity

- Strong system design skills for handling complex AI workflows and prompt management

- Proficiency with vector databases, semantic search, and knowledge representation systems

Psychology & Cognitive Science

- Deep understanding of human psychology, cognitive behavioral frameworks, and therapeutic approaches

- Experience translating psychological concepts and interventions into technical implementations

- Knowledge of evidence-based personal development methodologies and wellness practices

- Understanding of how to create AI systems that feel empathetic, supportive, and psychologically informed

AI/ML & Prompt Engineering Expertise

- Advanced prompt engineering skills including chain-of-thought, few-shot learning, and dynamic prompting

- Experience with classification systems, ontology design, and knowledge representation

- Understanding of how to optimize AI reasoning, reduce hallucinations, and maintain consistency

- Familiarity with evaluation frameworks for conversational AI and response quality measurement

Product & Systems Thinking

- Experience building consumer-facing AI products with high engagement and trust requirements

- Understanding of how prompt architecture impacts user experience, safety, and business outcomes

- Ability to balance technical constraints with psychological effectiveness and user needs

- Strong intuition for what makes AI interactions feel genuinely helpful and psychologically sound

- High engineering standards for systems that directly impact users' mental health and wellbeing

- Collaborative approach with ability to work across engineering, product, psychology, and design teams
