Mathematics Teacher – Long-Term Substitute
Location: Penncrest High School
Effective Date: Second Semester, 2025–2026 School Year
Compensation: As per RTMEA Contract
About the Role
Rose Tree Media School District is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Long-Term Substitute Mathematics Teacher for Penncrest High School for the second semester of the 2025–2026 school year – approximately January 26, 2026. This educator will support students in grades 9–12 by delivering high-quality mathematics instruction aligned with district standards and the needs of diverse learners. Penncrest High School utilizes a block schedule format.
The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of mathematics content and is collaborative, student-centered, and committed to creating an engaging and supportive learning environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree.
- Active and valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certification in Mathematics 7–12.
- Strong ability to design and deliver instruction that meets the needs of all learners.
- Ability to interpret and implement written, oral, diagram, or schedule-based instructions.
- Knowledge of current research and best practices in secondary mathematics education.
- Ability to plan and implement lessons aligned with district/school goals and student needs.
- Effective communication skills—both oral and written.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to perform various physical tasks essential to classroom instruction and school responsibilities. These may include:
- Regular standing, walking, talking, and hearing.
- Occasional sitting, bending, or twisting of the neck beyond typical movement.
- Occasionally lifting or pushing up to 50 lbs., such as boxes of instructional materials.
- Maintaining responsibility for the safety, well-being, and productivity of students.
- Using close vision for reading written or digital instructional materials and adjusting focus as needed.
- Managing multiple demands and interacting with students, staff, and the public in a busy school environment.
- Working primarily indoors, with noise levels ranging from moderate to loud.
