Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Insurance Verification Specialist to join our team. This role is crucial in ensuring that all insurance claims are processed accurately and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and insurance verification processes. You will work closely with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies to verify coverage and eligibility for services.
Duties
- Conduct thorough insurance verification for patients prior to their appointments.
- Review and interpret medical records to ensure accurate coding using ICD-10 and ICD-9.
- Communicate with insurance companies to confirm patient eligibility and benefits.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling sensitive patient information.
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers to resolve any discrepancies in insurance information.
- Assist in the management of managed care contracts and ensure proper coding for reimbursement.
- Document all interactions and maintain accurate records related to insurance verifications.
- Provide support in training new staff on insurance verification processes as needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience in insurance verification or a related field within a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding (ICD-10, ICD-9), and medical records management.
- Familiarity with managed care systems and processes.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant software applications.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with patients and insurance representatives.
- A background in eyecare office operations is a plus but not required.
- Willingness to perform other office tasks as assigned by supervisor
