Job Description

***Only qualified SQL/Power BI Developer candidates located in the Raleigh, NC area will be considered due to the position requiring an onsite presence***

Required Skills

• Experience with Power BI, familiarity in data science, business intelligence, data analytics (5 Years)
• Experience in creating detailed dashboards and writing DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) formulas (5 Years)
• Experience with RDBMS such as Oracle or MS SQL Server, writing SQL queries, stored procedures (5 Years)
• Ability to transform complex data into a range of visuals such as graphs, charts, and maps (5 Years)
• Experience working with On-premises Data Gateway architectures managing large volumes of data from AWS Data Lake or other cloud environments (3 Years)
• Implementing and maintaining data security and governance policies within Power BI (3 Years)
• Experience in data integration, connecting to and importing data from various sources including data lakes, cloud platforms, and Excel file (3 Years)
• Experience with ODBC connectors (5 Years)

Skill Sets And Experience Include

• Experience with Database Management Systems (DBMS) such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL - including proficiency in writing SQL queries and stored procedures
• Must possess at least 3 to 5 years of experience working with any BI tools and BI systems, with familiarity in data science, business intelligence, and data analytics
• Should have knowledge and experience on the Power BI Security and the approaches to be used when exposing dashboards to public
• Strong understanding of database design principles, data modeling, and normalization
• Knowledge of ETL processes and Business Intelligence (BI) tools
• Familiarity with programming languages like Python, Java, or C# for application integration is a plus
• Should have experience in data integration, connecting to and importing data from various sources including data lakes, cloud platforms, and Excel files
• Excellent communication skills are necessary to work with stakeholders, collect requirements, and effectively present results
• Knowledge of implementing and maintaining data security and governance policies within Power BI is essential

Client is looking to hire a SQL/Power BI developer with 3 to 5 years of development experience. This role involves close collaboration with the data modernization teams at ITD and DPH to design, implement, and manage power BI dashboards and reports that align with their technical requirements and business objectives

Job Responsibilities

• Work with business stakeholders to understand their requirements and gather needs for the reporting solution
• Analyze and define business requirements related to business intelligence
• Design and create data models to query raw or processed data from the AWS data lake for insightful analysis
• Develop multiple Power BI reports based on business needs and specifications
• Implement processes to maintain data accuracy, consistency, security, and regulatory compliance
• Use Power BI to build interactive and visually appealing dashboards and reports
• Determine key performance indicators that align with relevant objectives
• Examine historical and current data to aid better decision-making
• Monitor and improve Power BI reports and dashboards for better performance, scalability, and user experience
• Write and execute DAX queries and functions within Power BI
• Participate in standup meetings and share daily progress updates
• Create all required technical documentation
• Demonstrate dashboards and reports during technical presentations
