What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scientist position at Rose International?
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Contract Wet Lab Scientist to join our Discovery Biology team in San Diego. This is a hands-on role central to a high-priority binder screening campaign aimed at identifying and validating novel therapeutic candidates for T-cell-based therapies.
What You’ll Do:
- Execute bench-level assays to characterize potency, specificity, and safety of candidate binders (e.g., scFvs, VHHs).
- Perform non-viral engineering of primary human T cells, including delivery of mRNA or transposon-based DNA systems via electroporation/nucleofection.
- Maintain and expand primary T cells and Jurkat cell lines with impeccable aseptic technique.
- Conduct multi-color flow cytometry (FACS) and analyze data using FlowJo.
- Run functional assays, including cytotoxicity (IncuCyte/LDH), cytokine profiling (ELISA, MSD, Luminex), and T-cell proliferation tracking (CFSE).
- Meticulously document experiments and raw data in an Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN).
- Utilize liquid-handling robotics for high-throughput screening when needed.
- Present data-driven updates in weekly campaign meetings.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, or related biological sciences.
- 2 years of hands-on wet lab experience, preferably in an industry setting.
- Mastery of aseptic technique and experience isolating primary T cells from PBMCs.
- Strong expertise in flow cytometry acquisition and analysis.
- Experience with non-viral transfection methods is highly preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced drug discovery environment.
Why Join Us:
This is a contract opportunity (6–12 months) for scientists who love being at the bench and want to make an immediate impact on the development of next-generation T-cell therapies. You will work in a collaborative team that values precision, innovation, and rapid scientific progress.
