Rose‑Hulman Institute of Technology has an exciting opportunity within the Student Recreation Center for an SRC Staff Member (part-time). As part of an institution ranked No. 1 among U.S. engineering colleges by U.S. News & World Report for the past 27 consecutive years, this role contributes to the welcoming and service‑focused environment the campus is known for. The SRC Staff Member is responsible for greeting all patrons as they enter the facility, offering assistance and responding to inquiries throughout their visit, and providing a courteous farewell as they exit. The role ensures consistent, high‑quality customer service by remaining visible and accessible, answering phones, and delivering accurate information or directions. Responsibilities also include monitoring facility access to ensure that only authorized individuals enter, as well as providing the necessary materials for patrons to obtain proper authorization. The position oversees the lobby and weight room areas to maintain a safe, clean, and enjoyable recreational environment, performs light housekeeping duties, and checks equipment to ensure proper function. Additionally, the staff member ensures patrons follow facility attire guidelines and communicates important updates or concerns from each shift to the supervisor.
A high school diploma and less than one year of customer service experience are required for this position. Candidates must demonstrate basic analytical abilities as well as project or process management skills to support daily operational needs. Proficiency with computers is essential, along with strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Successful candidates will possess solid organizational abilities and the capacity to multitask in a dynamic environment. The role also requires flexibility in scheduling, including the ability to work some evening and weekend hours as needed.

Pay range is $11.25/hour - $12.25/hour (~29 hours/week). Pay is competitive. A higher pay may be negotiated based on experience and qualifications.
