We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medication Technician / Caregiver to provide high-quality care to residents in assisted living, nursing homes, and home care settings. Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed medications accurately following all safety protocols and HIPAA regulations
- Assist residents with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, mobility, and personal hygiene
- Monitor vital signs and observe for any changes in health status or symptoms
- Document medication administration, patient observations, and care activities using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner
- Support residents with specialized needs including tube feeding, catheter care, and memory or dementia care
- Maintain detailed medical records in compliance with healthcare standards and legal requirements
- Collaborate with nursing staff to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Ensure a safe environment by adhering to infection control procedures and safety protocols
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a respectful and caring atmosphere
- Assist with activities related to hospice care or palliative support as needed
Skills
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and patient care procedures
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments such as Alzheimer’s or dementia
- Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for medical documentation
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards
- Ability to perform medication administration accurately and safely
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with healthcare teams and residents’ families
- Compassionate caregiving attitude with patience and empathy for diverse populations including seniors and those with disabilities
- Ability to handle medical procedures such as tube feeding or catheter care competently
