Description
Food Safety & Quality Technician: Responsible for testing raw material and finished product samples, supporting activites in the Food Safety & Quality department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (non-exclusive list)
Collect and analyze samples of ingredients, packaging, raw product, and finished product
Perform physical and chemical analysis of raw and finished product
Perform plant inspections for adherence to GMP, santiation, and processing procedures, etc.
Assist in daily USDA audits of the processing area
Maintain all QC equipment
Perform environmental swabbing and sampling
Document all QC functions
Inspect equipment, silos, tankers, etc.
Maintain records and prepare reports/correspondence
Clean and sanitize the QC area
Organize sample storage areas
Assist with laboratory functions as needed
Ship and receive samples
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires that the person can read, speak, understand, and write basic English and use basic communication and math skills
BS degree with emphasis on food/science or 5+ years of related experience is desired
Able to lift up to 25lbs regularly and up to 50lbs on occasion
Capable of standing, bending, turning, and/or walking for 8-12 hours per day
Reliable and punctual in order to start the operation in a timely manner on a daily basis
Capable of performing multiple tasks at once
Ability to work long hours if needed to get the job completed
Teamwork skills in order to work well with other departments
Capable of working a flexible schedule – including some weekend work, overtime work, and occasional holidays at management’s discretion
Capable of understanding and following precise oral and written procedures and instructions
Capable of performing data entry duties and effectively navigate computer software
Capable of effectively analyzing information, evaluating results, and choosing the best solution to solve problems
Capable of ensuring that USDA and Rose Acre quality control standards are followed within the QC area
Capable of ensuring that all safety standards are followed in the facility, and that all accidents are properly documented
