ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for all operations, including fabrication (welding, machining, material preparation), safety, compliance, lean manufacturing.
- Develop and implement long-term plans to improve operational processes, reduce costs, and increase throughput without compromising quality, safety, or profits.
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production planning/supply chain teams to ensure alignment of project goals, schedules, and specifications.
- Oversee the hiring, training, development, and performance management of the teams, including supervisors and skilled trades personnel.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage departmental budgets, capital investments, and maintenance schedules.
- Champion lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and quality standards, such as ISO 9001 and 14001.
- Support new product introductions by working closely with design and engineering teams to ensure manufacturability.
- Evaluate and implement modern technologies, automation, and equipment upgrades when appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree or appropriate related experience is required. Preference would be a degree in engineering (mechanical, industrial preferred), or related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
- 5 -10 years of progressive experience in manufacturing or fabrication operations, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Strong business acumen and a demonstrated ability to understand the full spectrum of the business, from production to delivery.
- In-depth knowledge of metal fabrication processes including CNC machining, welding, laser cutting, and forming is a nice-to-have.
- Proven track record in driving operational excellence and process improvements in a respected manufacturing environment.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and production planning software is a must-have.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement tools are
relevant to this role.
