Voice Teacher

Company Description Roots' School of Theatre is a performing arts school that emphasizes hands-on experience as the foundation of learning. The school guarantees that each student in a production receives meaningful stage time through roles with lines, solos, or both, supported by intentionally small casts of 12–20 actors. This approach ensures that performers of all experience levels can take on impactful roles and grow their confidence and skills. Roots' School of Theatre serves students in grades K–12 with a variety of offerings, including private voice lessons, summer camps, musicals, plays, and improv and sketch comedy classes. The community-focused environment is designed to nurture artistic growth and individuality in every student.

Role Description The Voice Teacher is a full-time, on-site role based in Fishers, IN, responsible for providing vocal instruction to students of various ages and skill levels. Daily responsibilities include teaching private voice lessons, preparing students for solos and ensemble work in productions as well as local auditions, and corresponding with students, and potential students. The role also requires someone capable of adapting their teaching methods to meet individual student needs.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong skills in Vocal Coaching and Vocal Instruction.
• Candidates should possess skills in delivering Voice Lessons and practical Music Education.
• Candidates should possess foundational knowledge of Music Theory and its application to vocal performance.
• Experience teaching children and adolescents in a performing arts or music setting.
• Ability to create a supportive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
• Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Music, Vocal Performance, Music Education, Theatre, or a related field preferred.
• Availability to work afternoon, evening, and occasional weekend hours aligned with classes and productions.
