General Purpose of Job
The Engineering Manager leads and oversees the design, development, and execution of mechanical, robotics, and automation projects that advance ROOTS EDUCATION CO.’s mission of enhancing education through innovative technology. This position is critical in ensuring engineering teams deliver projects on time, within budget, and at the highest levels of quality and precision. The role requires a balance of technical excellence, strategic planning, and people leadership, ensuring that production meets or exceeds company standards while aligning engineering outcomes with business objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Lead and Inspire the Engineering Team: Provide leadership, direction, and mentoring to engineers and technical staff, cultivating a culture of excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure Production Excellence: Take ownership of the full engineering production lifecycle, from concept design to final delivery. Establish standards, monitor processes, and ensure that projects meet the highest functional, regulatory, and safety requirements.
- Strategic Alignment: Develop and implement engineering strategies that support company objectives, aligning technical initiatives with business priorities, client needs, and long-term organizational growth.
- Project Management: Oversee multiple concurrent projects, ensuring they are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to exacting quality standards. Track progress, mitigate risks, and ensure resources are efficiently allocated.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with executive leadership, business development, and client-facing teams to support technical proposals, client presentations, and project planning.
- Performance Oversight: Monitor engineering team performance, set measurable goals, conduct regular performance reviews, and implement corrective actions as needed to drive accountability and results.
- Budget and Resource Management: Manage departmental budgets, allocate resources effectively, and ensure cost-efficient production while maintaining high standards of quality and reliability.
- Innovation and Technical Advancement: Identify emerging technologies and industry trends in robotics, automation, and mechanical systems, integrating innovations into projects to enhance efficiency and performance.
- Client Support and Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance during installations, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure after-sale support maintains client satisfaction.
- Industry Representation: Represent ROOTS EDUCATION CO. at technical conferences, trade shows, and other professional events, building the organization’s profile and fostering external relationships.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline required; Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 10 years of engineering experience, including at least 7 years in a leadership or management role.
- Proven experience managing engineering teams and delivering projects from concept through production at high standards of quality and efficiency.
- Strong background in mechanical design, robotics, automation, or product development.
- Experience in budgeting, resource planning, and project management.
