Rooterville Animal Sanctuary was founded in 2004 by Elaine West and is dedicated to rescuing abused, neglected, and desperate farm animals. The sanctuary, located in Melrose, FL, has grown from 5 to 20 acres and is home to over 100 rescued farm animals, each with a story of second chances. Rooterville's mission is to provide rescue, care, and a permanent home for these animals while promoting compassion and kindness. Our vision is a world free of cruelty where compassion forms the foundation of how we treat one another. Sharing these precious animals with visitors has been a rewarding endeavor. Role Description
This is a part-time hybrid role for a Board Member at Rooterville Animal Sanctuary. The Board Member will be responsible for providing strategic oversight, supporting fundraising efforts, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enhancing the sanctuary’s public image. Some tasks can be performed remotely, but periodic visits to Melrose, FL, are required. Additionally, they will contribute to future planning, help with policy formulation, and engage with community outreach initiatives.
The vision for the sanctuary at this time is to grow it into a premier event destination for weddings, corporate events and get togethers in order to share it with as many people as possible and to grow our rental opportunities to allow more visitors to experience the magic we've created here.
Qualifications
- Experience in strategic planning and organizational development
- Fundraising and nonprofit management skills
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance, and nonprofit governance
- Public relations, community outreach, and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and support the organization’s mission and vision
- Previous experience with animal sanctuaries or similar nonprofits is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in relevant fields such as Business, Nonprofit Management, Hospitality, Entrepreneurship or Animal Science
