I. Position Summary:


We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Social Studies & Civics Teacher to join our faculty. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality, standards-aligned instruction in history, government, civics, economics, and social sciences. The ideal candidate will foster critical thinking, promote active citizenship, and cultivate an inclusive, supportive learning environment that helps every student reach their academic potential.


II. Key Responsibilities:


Instructional Delivery: Plan, prepare, and execute engaging lesson plans aligned with the Louisiana Student Standards for Social Studies. Integrate civics, current events, and foundational political concepts to encourage informed classroom discussion and healthy debate.


Classroom Management: Maintain a structured, safe, and welcoming learning environment that promotes respect, active participation, and positive behavioral expectations.


Data-Driven Assessment: Regularly assess student performance, track academic progress, and adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs, including providing accommodations for students with IEPs or 504 plans.


Communication & Collaboration: Maintain open communication with parents, guardians, and school administrators regarding student growth. Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.


III. Qualifications & Requirements:


Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, Political Science, or a related field preferred.


Certification: Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate/License in Secondary Social Studies (Grades 6–12) or eligibility for state licensure.


Skills: Strong classroom management skills, excellent verbal/written communication, and proficiency in integrating educational technology into daily instruction.


Pedagogical & Instructional Expertise: Mastery of core subject content, ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learning styles, and skill in designing curriculum aligned with state and national academic standards.


Classroom Management & Culture Building: Establishing clear behavioral expectations, fostering a respectful and inclusive environment, resolving conflicts effectively, and maintaining strong classroom structure.


Assessment & Data Analysis: Designing valid formative and summative assessments, leveraging data to drive instruction, providing constructive feedback, and monitoring student progress.


Communication & Collaboration: Communicating effectively with high school students, maintaining regular outreach with parents and guardians, and collaborating productively with administrators and department colleagues.


Student Engagement & Support: Incorporating educational technology, fostering critical thinking and active discussion, implementing IEP/504 accommodations, and supporting students' social-emotional growth.
