What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nature-Based Learning Facilitator position at Rooted Grove Collective?
Rooted Grove Collective is hiring a Part-Time Nature-Based Learning Facilitator to join our small, community-centered learning program in Bellevue, Nebraska.
Rooted Grove is a mixed-age, nature-based enrichment program for children ages 3–7. Our mornings are built around outdoor exploration, child-led play, hands-on projects, creativity, storytelling, early literacy, and meaningful relationships. We value curiosity and connection over worksheets, rigid schedules, or traditional classroom management. We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys being with children, can stay engaged and attentive in a busy mixed-age environment, and is comfortable supporting learning through play and exploration. You do not need to be a traditional classroom teacher, but experience working with children is strongly preferred.
Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings, approximately 9:00 AM–1:00 PM.
Responsibilities include actively supervising and engaging with children indoors and outdoors; facilitating hands-on projects, nature exploration, early literacy, storytelling, art, and other invitations to learn; supporting children socially and emotionally; helping maintain a safe, welcoming environment; taking initiative during the morning rather than waiting for direction; helping with setup, cleanup, transitions, snacks, lunch, and daily routines; and taking photos/ sharing brief documentation of the children’s learning with families.
We’d especially love to meet someone with experience or interest in nature-based education, homeschooling, Reggio-inspired learning, early childhood or elementary education, child-led learning, outdoor education, art, storytelling, literacy, mindfulness, or community-centered work.
The right person will be warm, dependable, observant, flexible, proactive, playful, and genuinely excited to spend their mornings with children.
Because much of our program takes place outdoors, applicants should be comfortable being outside in a variety of weather conditions and moving throughout our park setting. One unique benefit of this position is that, depending on enrollment and age, your own children may be able to attend Rooted Grove while you work.
