Deck Foreman/Crew Leader
Position Objective: A Deck Builder Foreman leads a construction crew, overseeing daily operations, ensuring high-quality deck and sunroom construction, managing safety, communicating with clients, and ensuring projects meet building codes, deadlines, and budget, acting as the key link between the crew, company management, and customers. They handle tasks from blueprint interpretation and material management to hands-on training and quality control, making sure work is efficient, safe, and meets exacting standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Guide, train, and mentor carpenters and builders, delegating tasks and fostering a productive environment.
- Project Oversight: Manage daily site activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to quality specifications.
- Quality & Safety: Conduct inspections, ensure compliance with building codes, and enforce strict safety protocols (OSHA).
- Client Communication: Collaborate with customers to understand their vision and ensure satisfaction.
- Planning & Execution: Read blueprints, estimate material needs, manage resources, and coordinate work with other trades.
- Problem Solving: Address on-site issues, resolve conflicts, and proactively manage roadblocks to keep work flowing.
- Reporting: Keep management informed daily of progress, material usage, and any potential issues.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong carpentry and hands-on construction experience.
- Proficiency with power tools, measuring tools, and blueprint reading.
- Knowledge of building codes and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in managing construction projects from start to finish.
Typical Work Environment:
- Outdoor construction sites, mostly residential.
- Requires physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions.
