Role Description
This contract Teaching Artist role is an on-site position based in Baltimore, MD. The Teaching Artist will provide instruction in film and digital media arts to K-12 students, encouraging creativity, collaboration, and storytelling skills. Responsibilities include developing lesson plans, delivering engaging and inclusive workshops, mentoring students, and supporting the execution of student-led media projects. The candidate will work closely with educators and Root Branch Media Group team members to implement curriculum and modify lessons to meet diverse learning needs and objectives.
Qualifications
- Experience in teaching or facilitating workshops, particularly with K-12 students, and the ability to create a positive, inclusive learning environment.
- Familiarity with video production, cinematography, and editing tools, as well as proficiency in creative development and storytelling techniques.
- Knowledge of software tools such as video editing programs, sound design applications, and graphic design software.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills to effectively instruct and manage responsibilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with educators, youth organizations, and colleagues in a professional setting.
- A background in media arts, digital arts education, or a related field, and a passion for mentoring students of diverse backgrounds.
- Prior experience or interest in youth development and shaping meaningful media narratives is highly desirable.
