Roosevelt City's Economic Development Committee is actively looking to fill a volunteer seat on the Business and Community subcommittee. Please review the information below and submit a cover letter, or letter of intent, to join the subcommittee.
APPOINTMENT AND MEMBERSHIP:
- Appointment: The Roosevelt City Economic Development Committee, referenced herein as "Roosevelt EDC" shall consist of up to fifteen (15) members, all of which shall be either 1) Residents of Roosevelt City, 2) An owner, officer, or employee of an entity doing business in, or directly impacting the economy of Roosevelt City 3) Roosevelt City Employee or 4) Roosevelt City Official. All members shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council. The Board shall select a Chairman, a Vice Chairman and a Secretary, by majority vote, to serve as committee officers. The duties of committee officers shall be determined by the Board as a whole. The Board shall also, by majority vote, determine a meeting schedule. Each elected officer shall serve for a term of one (1) year. Consecutive terms served by any individual as an officer shall be limited to two (2) one year terms.
- Subcommittees: Committee Members shall be appointed to and shall serve on one or more of the following subcommittees.
- Public Relations subcommittee: This subcommittee shall be comprised of at minimum the following three members:
- The Duchesne County Economic Development Director, or a designee appointed by the Roosevelt City Mayor in their stead.
- Roosevelt City Mayor
- Roosevelt City Manager
- Education and Life Science subcommittee: This subcommittee shall be comprised of at a minimum the following:
- A representative from Uintah Basin Healthcare
- A representative from Utah State University, Roosevelt Branch Campus
- A representative from UBTech.
- A representative from the Duchesne County School District
- Capital Projects and Infrastructure subcommittee: This subcommittee shall be comprised of up to four (4) representatives from entities providing utility services within Roosevelt City
- Public Relations subcommittee: This subcommittee shall be comprised of at minimum the following three members:
- Business Owner subcommittee: This subcommittee shall be comprised of up to four (4) representatives from entities doing business in, or directly impacting the economy of Roosevelt City and/or Roosevelt City residents with special knowledge of local business.
- Membership, terms and vacancies: The members of the Roosevelt EDC, as appointed above, shall serve for three (3) years on overlapping terms. Midterm vacancies shall be filled by appointment as set forth above for the unexpired portion of the term. Those whose terms have expired will continue to serve until such time that they are either reappointed, or a replacement has been appointed in their stead.
POWERS AND DUTES:
- Recommend the mission, goals, objectives, short-term plan and long-term plan related to the City's economic development platform.
- Recommend a marketing plan, including design and content.
- Periodically review the operations and financial viability of any economic development plan.
- The Committee shall have no authority to appropriate and expend public money nor to incur any obligations.
- Any other task regarding the City's economic development future as authorized by the City Council.
MEETINGS:
- Meetings of the Roosevelt EDC shall be held at the City Offices or such other City facility as determined from time to time by the Board. Notice of date, time and location of the meeting, along with the agenda, shall be given to the City Recorder not less than ten (10) days prior to the meeting in order for the meeting to be noticed in accordance with State law.
- A quorum of the Roosevelt EDC shall be a majority of the then current members. A majority vote of the quorum shall be required for the decision of any matter before the Board.
If a quorum is not present, no meeting shall be held and any items of business shall be continued to the next meeting of the Board
