What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Mover / Crew Chief position at Room Service Retold?
Room Service Retold is a luxury home staging company serving homes in and around Boston. We stage vacant homes into beautifully designed spaces that help buyers feel at home the moment they walk through the door.
We're looking for an experienced Lead Mover to join our team. This is a leadership position for someone who enjoys leading a team and takes pride in the tools of the trade.
This isn't a traditional moving job. Every day is different. One day you might be staging a luxury penthouse in Boston, the next you're organizing inventory in the warehouse or assembling furniture for an upcoming install.
If you've ever been the person everyone naturally follows when the truck door opens, we'd love to meet you.
What You'll Do
As our Lead Mover, you'll be responsible for leading the moving crew and keeping every project running safely, efficiently, and professionally.
- Lead the crew during staging and destaging projects
- Loading, unloading, wrapping, and protecting furniture
- Drive and operate company box trucks throughout Greater Boston
- Coordinate loading strategies to maximize truck space and protect inventory
- Assemble furniture and hanging artwork when needed
- Troubleshooting small issues on-site and finding practical solutions
- Complete final quality checks before leaving each property
- Maintain a clean, organized truck, warehouse, and job site
- Training new crew members on proper moving techniques
- Work alongside ownership regarding project logistics, inventory needs, and scheduling
- Represent Room Service Retold professionally while working in clients' homes
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has professional moving experience
- Is comfortable leading a crew and making decisions
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Confidence driving 16 to 26-foot box trucks
- Can assemble furniture and use basic power tools
- Strong knowledge of furniture protection, wrapping, lifting techniques, and truck loading
- Is mechanically inclined and enjoys working with their hands
- The ability to lift and carry heavy furniture safely with a teammate
- Takes ownership instead of waiting to be told what to do
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail
Bonus Points
- Warehouse or logistics experience
- Furniture assembly experience
- Home staging, furniture rental, or moving company experience
What You’ll Love about Working Here
- Competitive hourly pay based on experience
- Leadership growth opportunities
- Flexible scheduling
- Employee discounts
- Performance-based bonuses
- A creative work environment where every day is different
- The opportunity to help shape a growing luxury home staging company from the ground up
A Note From Us
We're not looking for someone who simply moves furniture. We're a growing company where your ideas matter.
You'll work on beautiful homes, solve new challenges every week, and play a key role in building something from the ground up.
We're looking for someone who takes ownership, leads by example, solves problems before there are problems, and genuinely cares about the people they work with.
If you're looking for the same four walls every day, this probably isn't the job for you.
If you enjoy hard work, variety, and building something you're proud of, we'd love to hear from you.
