Ronpak has an excellent opportunity for a Flexo-CI Press Operator at our Shreveport, LA plant.
The press operator is responsible for supporting the goals of the plant in efficient operation of a CI-flexographic press, ensuring consistent quality, while meeting schedules and maintaining equipment. This is a technical, skilled position, requiring mechanical aptitude and previous CI-flexographic experience. Candidates will have solid print environment experience, strong math skills, and a desire to grow and learn with a print career focus.
Essential Job Functions:
- Review job ticket for required processes and customer expectations
- Enter job order information (i.e., roll track numbers, job specifications, etc.) and set specifications on press (measurement accuracy and attention to detail required)
- Exhibit safety-first attitude, from proper PPE compliance to maintaining an environmentally safe and hazard-free work environment. Active participation on the Safety Team. Compliance with all workplace and product safety standards required
- Continuously check job for quality
- Perform and support preventive press maintenance
- Comply with customer and QA specifications, including, but not limited to, handling procedures and paperwork requirements. Compliance with all data integrity, product safety, and GMP standards required
- Complete roll-end section of Quality Control checklist and verify as each master roll is run on press
- Responsible for following established processes and procedures related to safety, quality, and equipment
- Responsible for cleanliness of machinery, work space organization, light equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting issues, as applicable and safe to accomplish
- Perform required test runs
- Assist in the performance of external make-ready operations in preparation for changeover activities, as needed
- Assist with cleanup activities following changeover; clean ink pans and ancillary equipment, strip plates from cylinders, conduct washup, etc.
- Cross-train other team members to run press through breaks/lunches, as time allows. Mentor employees to support growth within the plant
- Participation in department meetings, process improvement events, training, and safety programs, as scheduled
- Responsible for working required overtime
Qualifications / Knowledge & Experience:
- Strong knowledge of and minimum five (5) years’ experience as a CI-Flexographic Press Operator
- High school education or equivalent
- Ability to run press independently, assist in press set-up and clean-up activities
- Ability to safely lift, push, and pull up to 20 feet in distance: 50 pounds, on a regular basis, and 75 pounds occasionally
- Ability to work with water-based inks, solvents, and various print-shop chemicals
- Proven ability to understand and operate roll lifts and press equipment in a safe manner
- Proven commitment to the business (must not be on discipline for attendance, performance, or attitude)
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to communicate and interact well with others, both orally and in written form
- Ability to read a ruler and understand measurements (math and ruler assessment will be required)
- Ability to enter data into computer
- Self-motivated with ability to stay focused and follow instructions
- Must be able to relate to, work with, and influence, as needed, people at all levels within the organization
- Assertive and solution-focused
- Ability to prioritize while working in a fast-paced environment
- May be expected to use various quality inspection tools

- Routinely use hands and fingers to handle, feel, grasp, and manipulate items; use hands and arms to reach for items in and around the press area; occasionally stoop or kneel while reaching
- Frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds
- Routinely push or pull objects up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities include: close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to distinguish color variations, and ability to adjust focus
- Work flexible/varying schedules and hours, as needed
- Work overtime or weekends, as required by workload and customer mandated deadlines
- Repeat the same physical activities throughout the day
