Description

The Position 

Roncelli is looking for a full-time Project Safety Lead to join our team. This role requires experience in the construction industry. The Project Safety Lead will be responsible for planning, implementing, auditing, and overseeing safety programs for solar projects, ensuring compliance with both corporate safety standards and contractual requirements. We are seeking a candidate with a proactive, can-do attitude, a professional demeanor, excellent communication skills, a customer-focused approach, and strong organizational and computer skills, all while being a collaborative team player.

Qualifications


  • A Valid Driver's License and ability to travel to jobsites is required. 
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial construction and/or renewable energy safety management.
  • Certification: OSHA 30 certification is required (OSHA 500 or higher is preferred).
  • Education: A degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in safety management software (e.g., Procore, Hammertech, SharePoint). Strong computer and organizational skills are essential.
  • Knowledge: Thorough understanding of construction and renewable energy safety regulations, including OSHA, MIOSHA, and industry-specific standards.
  •  Additional Skills: Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to access and inspect various work areas, including construction sites, where physical activity (e.g., walking, standing) is required.

 

Role and Responsibilities 

 

  • Safety Program Implementation & Management: Plan, implement, and enforce comprehensive safety programs on commercial construction and renewable energy projects, ensuring compliance with both company standards and industry regulations.
  • Field Inspections & Risk Mitigation: Conduct regular site inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards. Address unsafe working conditions or behaviors promptly through corrective actions, safety stand-downs, or work stoppages, as necessary.
  • Safety Training & Compliance: Lead safety training sessions for site personnel and subcontractors, ensuring understanding and adherence to safety protocols. Topics may include fall protection, confined space entry, electrical safety, and equipment operation.
  • Subcontractor Safety Management: Review and approve subcontractor safety plans, including pre-task plans, crane lifts, excavation, steel erection, and fall protection. Ensure that all subcontractors comply with site-specific safety requirements.
  • Accident & Incident Documentation: Document all safety violations, accidents, and unsafe activities. Ensure accurate reporting and filing of all necessary records and reports in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with project managers, site teams, and corporate safety directors to communicate and enforce safety standards. Lead safety walk-throughs with owners and regulatory agencies during inspections.
  • Continuous Improvement: Evaluate and recommend improvements to the safety program based on incident trends, field observations, and changes in regulations.

Roncelli is headquartered in Sterling Heights, Michigan, however the jobsite can vary throughout the state of Michigan.
