Roncelli, Inc. is currently seeking a full time Project Engineer. The Project Engineer supports the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects by assisting with project documentation, cost tracking, schedule monitoring, quality oversight, and field coordination. This role partners with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract requirements and company standards.
Travel Expectations: This is an onsite, field-based position requiring daily presence at assigned project sites. Travel to other project locations may be required based on assignment, along with occasional travel to Roncelli’s headquarters in Sterling Heights, Michigan.

Role and Responsibilities
Project Documentation & Submittals
• Assist with the obtainment, review, submission, logging, and tracking of project submittals and documentation.
• Support management of RFIs, meeting minutes, transmittals, and project correspondence.
• Maintain organized and accurate project records in company project management systems.
Cost Tracking & Financial Support
• Assist in compiling and tracking project costs, including materials purchased, labor hours, and equipment usage.
• Support budget monitoring, cost forecasting, and documentation of cost impacts related to project changes.
• Assist with review of subcontractor invoices, pay applications, and cost documentation.
Schedule, Progress & Production Tracking
• Assist with tracking project progress, work production, and quantity installation.
• Support schedule updates, milestone tracking, and reporting of project status.
• Help identify potential schedule risks or productivity concerns and escalate as needed.
• Support development, compiling content, and distribution of weekly reports.
Quality & Field Support
• Observe and inspect work to verify compliance with project requirements, drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Assist with punch list development, closeout documentation, and quality control processes.
• Support coordination between field teams, subcontractors, and project leadership to ensure alignment with project scope and plans.
Safety & Compliance
• Participate in safety reviews, job hazard analyses, and jobsite safety inspections.
• Assist in ensuring compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and site safety requirements.
• Support documentation of safety observations, incidents, and corrective actions when needed.
• Support procurement, documentation and tracking of permits with authorities having jurisdiction.
Collaboration & Professional Development
• Communicate effectively with project teams, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Participate in training, mentorship, and continuous learning opportunities.
• Support process improvement initiatives and best practice development within the construction organization.
Qualifications:
Skills and Knowledge
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in Microsoft Office Suite and construction/project management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, or similar).
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented construction environment.
Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred; Associate degree and/or equivalent industry experience may be considered.
• Experience: Two years of related construction or project support experience preferred but not required.
• Certifications (Preferred): OSHA, First Aid/CPR, or other safety-related credentials.
• Screening Requirements: Pre-employment and annual drug testing required; background check, including driving record, as required by client.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
This role operates in both office and field environments and requires regular visits to active jobsites. The position involves prolonged periods of computer use, participation in meetings, and on-site coordination. The employee must be able to walk on uneven terrain, climb stairs or ladders, and work safely around construction activities while wearing required PPE. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required. Travel between project sites and office locations may be necessary depending on project needs. Compliance with all company safety policies and jobsite safety rules is required.
