Position Summary:

The Assistant Operations Associate is a full-time employee responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Ronald McDonald. Supervised by the Operations Director, the Assistant Operations Associate has responsibilities that extend to support staff, interns, and volunteers. The Assistant Operations Associate has areas of specific responsibility including guest services and facility conditions at the Ronald McDonald House of Columbia, SC.

The Assistant Operations Associate is responsible for assisting with recruitment, training, evaluation and the retention of staff and volunteer positions at the Ronald McDonald House. This position is responsible for assisting the Operations Director with overseeing that the general physical condition and maintenance are kept in the best condition to serve guests at the House and Family Room Programs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

1. House Duties

a. Develop relationships with staff, volunteers, and guests.

b. Importing and scheduling guests through Family Registry.

c. Check families in and out, inspects, cleans, and organizes bedrooms and general facility.

d. May be assigned to be on call overnight, handle emergency situations or other urgent circumstances.

e. Assist with guests staying in the House and ensure that policies and procedures are well understood and communicated appropriately to all guests.

f. Maintain inventory of Ronald McDonald House supplies that are donated or purchased.

g. Ensure volunteers have appropriate supplies to complete tasks.

h. Monitor physical interior & exterior structure and décor and report maintenance and replacement needs to the Operations Director.

1. Family Room Programs

a. Assist with the supervising and scheduling of part time Family Room Associates and Volunteers.

b. Oversees utilization of all Family Room programs to ensure we are serving Children’s and Women’s Services population.

c. May be assigned to cover shifts in emergency situations or other urgent circumstances.

d. Supervises housekeeping in all Family Room programs..

e. Maintain inventory of Family Room supplies that are donated or purchased.

f. Ensure volunteers have appropriate supplies to complete tasks.

g. Monitor physical interior & exterior structure and décor and report maintenance and replacement needs to the Operations Director.

Volunteer Management

a. Assist with the development of volunteer information packet to be provided to potential volunteers.

b. Assist with the development of appropriate training programs and materials, including volunteer job list, needs and materials.

c. Track performance, hours and commitment of House and Family Room volunteers.

d. Develop and maintain ongoing volunteer communication.

Liaison Duties

a. Serve as liaison for staff, volunteers, board, and the public.

b. Maintains appropriate relationships with local community medical workers, social workers, and administrative personnel.

c. Manage guest relations assuring compliance with RMHC policies and procedures.

d. Takes referrals and assists in prioritization of the waiting list.

2. Other

a. Assist with other duties at the direction of the RMHC Executive Director.

b. Ongoing Community Outreach to contribute to above goals.

c. Other duties as assigned by Executive Director.

Qualifications:

a. Must be a high school graduate or higher education.

b. Ability to manage multiple projects.

c. Compassionate with a positive and optimistic outlook.

d. Team Player.

e. Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

f. Excellent driving record.

Physical demands and working conditions:

Physical demand is moderate. Some of the work is sedentary. Occasional need for lifting and moving moderately heavy supplies, etc. Hours of work may vary to meet the needs of the guests, staff and volunteers. Some evening and weekend work may be required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
