Introduction to the Simon Builders Apprenticeship Program (SBAP)
Simon Builders, a program of the Ronald M. Simon Family Foundation, is dedicated to supporting students in graduating high school and pursuing successful careers in the Residential and Commercial Construction Industry.
Our program works in cooperation with the local school districts of Orange County to elevate the students’ learning experience by providing additional support to the classroom through facilities enhancement, a Tiny House Build Capstone, hands-on training project, and Youth Apprenticeship.

This is a unique position that requires visiting construction classrooms/labs on high school campuses, interacting with site administration, teachers, students, industry partners as well as working with staff in the Newport Beach office. This position works in tandem with the Program Coordinator of Student Engagement and reports directly to the Executive Director.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Program Coordinator, Construction Services, is responsible for supporting the operational, logistical, and construction-related needs of the Simon Builders Apprenticeship Program, including:
Construction Equipment, Tools, and Materials Management
- Maintain comprehensive lists of construction hand tools, equipment, tiny house trailers, and building materials (BOMs), for Simon Builders construction labs
- Maintain comprehensive list of personal protective equipment (PPE), hand tools, and gear for student builders
- Work with instructors to maintain accurate inventory, proper care, and safe storage of all tools, equipment and materials
Logistics and Procurement
- Coordinate procurement of tools, equipment, and materials required for new, continuing, and expanding programs
- Coordinate logistics with vendors, school districts, and school sites for shipment, delivery, and receiving
Technology, Data, and Administrative Support
- Assist programs with training and support in filing inspections, tracking project progress, obtaining technical support, and maintaining equipment inventories
- Support technology platforms used for construction documentation and reporting
- Provide administrative support to the Executive Director, school sites, and staff as needed
Program Support and Scalability
- Support operational consistency and quality across all construction lab sites
- Innovate using technology to ensure scalability of the program to numerous schools throughout Orange County
Relationship Building
- Build and maintain professional relationships with school district and school site personnel, ROP staff, families, community partners, industry partners, and the Ronald M. Simon Family Foundation management and staff
- Act as a liaison coordinating written and verbal communication between partners and the Executive Director

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Passion for working with students from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Industry based construction training, college, apprenticeship or technical/trade. College degree and/or Journeyman preferred.
- Experience in how to access post-secondary programs such as work, community college, and apprenticeships
- Working/general knowledge of construction industry terminology, tools, and building practices
- OSHA-10 Safety Certification (may be earned post-employment)
- Ability to develop a trusting rapport with students and their families
- Ability to align with district and school site administration, counselors and staff
- Ability to establish rapport with industry partners and to effectively communicate the needs of the program
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to track and report on construction program measures and outcomes
- Willing to take initiative, prioritize, organize, and work on multiple projects to effectively meet deadlines
- Must be flexible with hours - occasional evenings/weekends as needed for SBAP events
- Reliable transportation is required to the office location and the Greater Orange County area
- Must be physically able to participate with students in activities and lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working
- Working knowledge of Zoom, Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Hangouts/Meet, Google Classroom), including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM database
- Bilingual is a plus (Spanish preferred)
- General understanding of educational systems, legal issues, policies, and trends in Career Technical Education
- Livescan and pre-employment screening clearance

Job Type: Full-time, Exempt
Pay: $70,304.00 annualized
Schedule: Monday to Friday with some weekends and evenings
Work Location: Newport Beach Office, local travel to school sites, district offices, conferences, events, and some remote.
