Job Description
Job Title: Liturgical Coordinator Status: Full-Time - 40 Hours / week
Exemption Status: Non-Exempt Salary Range: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Department/Location: Our Mother of Sorrows Parish / Tucson, AZ
Primary Function: Under the direction of the Liturgy Consultant and Music Director is responsible for assisting in the preparation of all aspects of the liturgies and other liturgy related events. The Liturgical Coordinator shall be a minister of the Gospel and Catholic Teaching both academically and behaviorally while at work and in his/her personal life, “…Live in a manner worthy of the call you have received.” (Eph. 4:1)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary Function: Under the direction of the Liturgy Consultant and Music Director is responsible for assisting in the preparation of all aspects of the liturgies and other liturgy related events. The Liturgical Coordinator shall be a minister of the Gospel and Catholic Teaching both academically and behaviorally while at work and in his/her personal life, “…Live in a manner worthy of the call you have received.” (Eph. 4:1)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform as a lay ecclesial minister in support of the parish’s spiritual and pastoral mission.
- Abides by Catholic principles in the employee's professional and private life and shall govern his/her professional and private life in strict accordance with Catholic morals and principles to demonstrate complete adherence to Catholic moral strictures.
- Responsible for implementing the liturgical services of the parish.
- Work with the Liturgical Consultant and Music Director to prepare weekly liturgical materials for regular and special liturgical events.
- Prepare and coordinate monthly schedules with staff and volunteers to ensure minister coverage for all Masses.
- Coordinate with and assist liturgical staff and volunteers in the physical set-up of the sanctuary for regular and special liturgical events.
- Be able to work in high pressure situations while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Assist in the liturgical ministries’ formation programs and the ministerial spiritual days of prayer.
- Maintain open communication with all staff and lay ministers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical/Mental Requirements: Requires coordination and manual dexterity, normal mental and visual ability; ability to lift as required in a normal office environment.
Required Activities: Walking, sitting, standing, stooping, reaching, talking, handling, hearing, carrying, and keyboarding.

- Must have a working knowledge of and a strong commitment to the mission of the Diocese and Catholic Church; be in full communion with the Church.
- Must have a working knowledge of the Liturgy of the Roman Catholic Church and traditions.
- Excellent communications skills, verbal and written; excellent human relations and interpersonal skills.
- Exercise courtesy to fellow employees, parishioners, and the public.
- Must be a self-starter; well organized; perform multiple tasks simultaneously, and work with a sense of urgency.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a positive team environment.
- Must always be punctual; ability to travel locally as required.
- Work schedule flexibility to compensate for weekends, evenings, and overtime work that may be required.
- Proficiency in computer technology to include Microsoft Office suite, email, and other media.
- Professional bearing; clean and neat personal appearance, especially when working with the public.
- Ability to successfully pass a background, criminal history, and credit history check.
Education and Experience:
- Experience in the preparation and celebration of liturgy of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Preferred but not required Bachelor’s degree in religious or liturgical study; or 5 years of equivalent experience.
Other Skills:
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred
