Our Lady of Mount Carmel School is seeking a part time Resource Teacher.
The Catholic School teacher fulfills the mission of the Church by preparing students to live virtuous lives in service to society and the Church. The Catholic School teacher is a highly skilled professional person who works in close collaboration with the principal so that he/she may effectively fulfill the various roles that must be assumed during the course of the teaching day. The different instructional and non-instructional roles that a teacher plays should be permeated by a Christ-like orientation which is seen daily in what the teacher says and does in his/her classroom environment. The teacher’s instructional/non-instructional tasks are:
- Assess the needs of students referred by the administration
- Assist in the development of an educational plan for an individual student
- Assess the need to work with a student in the general classroom or pull out for individual/group
instruction - Initiates, directs and evaluates learning
- Implements the content and curriculum effectively
- Support classroom teachers by modifying curriculum and content for students according to their individualized plans
- Uses best practices to assist student learning, thinking outside-the-box to aid students in solidifying content
knowledge - Clarify a student’s educational needs and communicate a student’s individual progress for effective use
of assessment - Attempts to meet individual needs through individualized or small group instruction
- Completing narratives and reporting on progress toward goals
- Completing report cards, when applicable
- Communicating with parents through written communication as needed
- Participate in parent meetings when necessary when the needs of the child dictate such meetings
- Inform parents with possible alternatives necessary if the child does not adapt to accommodations
- Maintain communication with the Director of Resource or Principal at all times
- Other duties as assigned
