St. Matthew’s Catholic School is seeking a dedicated, energetic, and faith-filled 2nd Grade Teacher. The ideal candidate will create a vibrant, inclusive, and safe learning environment where students can thrive academically and spiritually. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction aligned with the Consensus Curriculum while guiding student development in accordance with our school’s mission and vision.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Excellence:
- Lesson Planning: Prepare weekly plans with clear objectives and diverse activities that inspire students and accommodate individual learning styles.
- Curriculum Alignment: Adhere to Diocesan guidelines for subject matter and time allotments, incorporating technology effectively into daily instruction.
- Assessment: Evaluate student performance through a variety of oral, written, and performance-based metrics to drive improvement and provide enrichment or remediation.
- Collaboration: Work closely with grade-level partners to implement curriculum and share best practices.
Faith & Character Formation
- Spiritual Leadership: Instruct students in the Catholic faith using Scripture, the Catechism, and approved texts. Prepare students to receive Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist.
- Model of Integrity: Lead by the "power of good example," fostering a classroom culture rooted in Gospel values, order, and self-discipline.
- Community Engagement: Support the school’s mission and show an active interest in student life, including sports, music programs, and after-school clubs.
Classroom Management & Administration
- Student Safety: Maintain a secure environment, following all health and safety protocols (evacuation drills, emergency preparedness, and playground/hallway supervision).
- Communication: Maintain a strong partnership with parents through regular, transparent communication regarding student progress.
- Records: Fulfill all record-keeping requirements, including report cards, progress reports, and attendance via the school’s SIS.
