Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Administrator, performs custodial, outdoor yard work and light maintenance duties to help maintain the church and other buildings on parish property. This position will also provide limited general office support and ensure the Administrator is informed and consulted on all matters and operations of the facilities daily.

In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.
Responsibilities:

- As an integral part of the ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic church
- Continuously grows in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
- Regular cleaning of the parish facilities and maintenance of the grounds (mopping, sweeping, throwing trash, cleaning bathrooms, mowing, tree-trimming)
- Performs repair and maintenance tasks as necessary across the physical plant
- Maintains equipment used for plant operation
- Works with vendors to order and stock janitorial supplies, parts, and other supplies
- Cleans buildings on a weekly basis
- Monitors and submits requests to pastoral staff for supplies for cleaning/light maintenance duties
- Performs other duties as assigned
Mental/Physical Demands:
- Ability to carry, pull, push, lift, or move objects 10 pounds or more
- Frequent bending, lifting, walking, standing
- Ability to maintain composure under duress; maintain emotional control under stress
- Must maintain confidentiality of parish operations
- Operate small machinery
- May be exposed to warm/cold temperatures outdoors, unpleasant substances and odors

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift objects and handle hazardous materials
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with diocesan policies and procedures
- Valid Texas driver’s license

Position Information:
- Reports to Administrator
- Part-time, non-exempt position
- Eligible for medical insurance and 403(b) Thrift Plan Retirement Benefits
- Must successfully complete pre-employment screening including criminal history background check, motor vehicle record review (MVR), and drug screening
- Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office for Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources is required
- Must adhere to all Diocesan policies and procedures
