Maintenance / Custodial Worker

Employment Type: Full time (35hr./week, mornings)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Salary: $20 - $24 per hour, based on experience.

Position Summary: The Maintenance/Custodial Worker is part of a team that is responsible for keeping St. Gabriel offices, meeting rooms, Church and Hall clean and well-maintained. Responsibilities will include daily cleaning and setting up/taking down for events and meetings.

Principal Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Maintain all parish properties to include emptying trash, dusting, mopping, sweeping, etc.
• Clean & set up meeting rooms, offices, Church & Parish Hall
• Maintain various supplies needed throughout property to include washing rags, mops, etc. that are used
• Perform various duties as assigned and cover maintenance duties when other team member is on vacation
• Communicates with Business Manager on any items needing repairs, etc.
• Coordinates with Parish Office staff in regard to Parish Calendar
• Perform light handyman duties
• Lock and secure the entire campus each evening on shift

Knowledge and Skills:

• The Maintenance/Custodial Worker will be capable of identifying and handling maintenance issues
• Must have at least 1 year experience in a janitorial and maintenance related field and be well versed in parish operations
• Display discretion and ensure confidentiality of work undertaken
• Have knowledge of routine facility cleaning requirements
• Possess a good understanding of how to clean all facilities and perform general set ups
• Be familiar with cleaning chemicals and the proper handling, usage, and disposal of chemicals
• Have effective communication skills and work well with staff and parishioners

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to bend, stoop, squat, reach, and climb ladders. The employee is required to be mobile to, from, and within the Parish facility. The employee may be required to conduct trips to, from, and within various city and county-wide locations. The employee must be able to perform moderate to heavy manual labor, including frequent bending, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
