Successful candidates with be motivated self-starters able to maintain situational awareness and vigilance in a fast-paced airport environment.

Aviation Security Officers are trained for several different posts. Essential functions detailed below include, but not limited to: Working in conjunction with airport and government agencies; and ensure and maintain compliance with local and federal regulations in respect to each of the following:

• Maintain a high standard of safety.
• Airport Access Control (providing access to restricted areas to construction personnel).
• Continuously monitor the movement of all escorted personnel in all secured area.
• Prevent unauthorized access to operational areas and construction zones.
• Challenge and report to superiors or law enforcement officers any person without identification badges.
• Ensure that service providers are compliant with policies and procedures.
• Complete all necessary daily logs.
• Ensure that all personnel have the proper identification to provide access to secured areas.
• Ramp Access Control: Ensure that only authorized personnel have access to the AOA and airport secured areas. Ensure the security of the airport ramp, and aircrafts.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• High School Diploma / GED.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Upon hire, must provide proof of legal right to work in the United States.
• NYS Security Guard License Holders is a plus (training is offered to obtain the required license).
• FDNY Fire Guard F-01 License Holders is a plus (training is offered to obtain the required license).
• Ability to effectively speak, write, and understand the English language is required.
• Must pass all initial and recurrent training classes and exams as administered by NYS Licensing Division and Port Authority.
• Must have access to reliable transportation.
• Work independently and make sound decisions based upon limited information.
• Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather.
• Consent to an extensive, verifiable 10-year background check (criminal, employment, credit, education, and personal references).
• Must pass a security threat assessment exam (administered by the Transportation Security Administration).
• Airport Badging is required.

Physical/Environmental Requirements:

Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments, and involves exposure to noise, chemical, and other contaminants, moving mechanical hazards, and extremes of temperature and weather conditions. The ability to tolerate exposure to noise levels up to 120 decibels, stand for extended periods of time, and lift 50 pounds unassisted is required.

Reasoning Ability:

• Must exhibit sound judgment and decision making.
• Must have the ability to follow directions and outlined procedures.
• Must comply with HR, legal, and ethical policies.
• Ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
