What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Intern position at RollUp?
About Us The Rollup is a growing review platform built for food & beverage workers β think Glassdoor, but for the restaurant industry. We're giving the people behind the counter a voice, and we're building the community to back it up.
About the Role This isn't a coffee-run internship. As a Growth & Content Intern, you'll own two distinct and equally important functions β creating content that grows our social presence and getting out into the real world to grow our user base organically. You'll have real ownership, real targets, and real impact on an early-stage platform.
π± Social Media Growth
- Produce and edit 16 short-form videos for TikTok and Instagram Reels over the internship period, scripting and filming storytime-style content optimized for each platform
- Source and develop 24 content stories from social media, forums, and F&B communities to build a scalable content library for the team
- Pitch and execute your own content concepts β if you have an idea, we want to hear it
- Stay ahead of platform trends to maximize reach and engagement
- Manage a full weekly content calendar independently
π€ Organic User & Review Growth
- Lead grassroots outreach efforts to drive new user reviews onto the platform, working toward weekly targets tracked in real time
- Engage directly with restaurant workers and F&B communities β in person and online β including approaching workers out in the city to introduce the platform and encourage participation
- Develop creative, boots-on-the-ground strategies to grow our user base without paid acquisition
- Build relationships within local restaurant networks to establish The Rollup as a trusted resource for industry workers
Who We're Looking For
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at a college or university in the Greater Boston area
- Studying Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Sales, Business Administration, or a related field β though we're open to any major if you can show us you've got the instincts
- Comfortable on camera and familiar with short-form video platforms (TikTok, Instagram Reels)
- A natural people-person β this role involves real conversations with real people, including approaching strangers in the city
- Self-starter who can manage an independent workload and hit deadlines without hand-holding
- Basic video editing experience (CapCut, Reels editor, or similar) preferred but not required
- Genuine curiosity about food, hospitality, or workplace culture is a plus
What You'll Walk Away With
- A portfolio of 16 produced and edited short-form videos β each with real view counts and engagement data you can cite in any interview
- The ability to point to an exact number of users you personally brought onto a live platform, tracked and verified in real time
- Concrete, numbers-backed experience across two high-demand skill sets: content creation and grassroots growth β the kind that makes a resume stand out
- Firsthand startup experience with genuine ownership β you'll see the direct impact of your work, not just hand things off up the chain
- A boots-on-the-ground network inside Boston's F&B community that you built yourself
