What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Bus Mechanic position at Rolling V Bus Corp.?
Rolling V Bus Corp. Maintain, repair, and perform maintenance (preventive and on-demand) on school buses used for student transportation as assigned. Work includes repair, replacement, assembly and installation of parts on the interior and exterior of vehicles including: engine performance, heating and air conditioning, electrical systems and components, brakes, drive train and axles, tires, automatic transmission, suspension, and steering. Inspect parts and/or vehicles to identify defective or broken parts. Includes working with lubricants and hazardous solvents/fluids as typical to vehicle maintenance. Use of in-house tools available for diagnostics and repair including heavy equipment, such as lifts, air tools, lathes and mill work machines, along with special equipment to mount and dismount tires. Driving vehicles in and out of the garage and road testing of vehicles. Comply with all safety, security, regulations, quality standards and procedures established by the Company, State and Federal DOT authorities, the NYS Department of Education and Office for People with Developmental Disabilities. Freely ask for an explanation of tasks and use of equipment that you are not familiar with or have no knowledge of. Complete accurate paperwork in accordance with company procedures. Be safety conscious of self and coworkers. Perform duties in a cost-effective manner. Protect all company tools, property and equipment. Attend all applicable trainings. Interact with drivers and operations management. Upgrade your skills with paid training as may be requested by the employer. Obtain through company provided training and/or keep Commercial Driver’s License updated. Drive school bus routes as may be needed when short drivers. RATE OF PAY STARTING: $21.00 Per Hour (Based on experience) LOCATION: Liberty, NY OTHER: Subject to random drug and alcohol testing. Meet the mandated requirements of Commercial Drivers Licensure.
