Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures with animal restraint and handling techniques.
- Prepare animals for procedures by performing animal husbandry tasks and applying aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment.
- Conduct laboratory tests, including sample collection and analysis, to support accurate diagnoses.
- Manage pet care routines such as grooming, feeding, and administering medications under veterinary supervision.
- Take and develop X-ray images, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
- Perform dental cleanings using dental terminology and techniques to promote oral health in pets.
- Handle animal catheterization, injections, and other invasive procedures with precision and care.
- Maintain detailed medical records, including notes on animal physiology, anatomy, and treatment plans.
- Support pet owners with education on pet care, behavior training (including dog training), and grooming needs.
- Ensure all safety standards are met through proper animal restraint, aseptic technique, and equipment sterilization.
Qualifications
- Proven kennel experience with animals of various sizes and temperaments.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and physiology.
- Experience in veterinary critical care settings or emergency situations preferred.
- Laboratory experience including sample collection and analysis is highly desirable.
- Equine experience or handling large animals is a plus but not required.
- Excellent dog handling skills and animal restraint techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff.
- Familiarity with X-ray procedures and pet grooming practices enhances your candidacy.
- Previous veterinary technician experience or relevant animal handling certifications is advantageous.
