POSITION: HOST
CATEGORY: NON-EXEMPT
SUMMARY: Our Host is the first interaction with Members. It is the responsibility of the Host to ensure that Members and guests have a positive dining experience from the moment they arrive until their departure.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be in proper and complete uniform as designated and be at the scheduled station at scheduled time.
- Arrange Host station for appropriate shift; always keep podium and the main foyer clean.
- Ensure side work is complete for lunch and dinner.
- Greet Members by Mr./Mrs. with a smile, all the while maintaining eye contact as they arrive.
- Manage the flow of Members and guests, giving accurate wait times if necessary.
- Answer incoming calls for reservations and take-out orders.
- Place take-out orders through POS; inform Chef/Expo about any special cooking instructions and ensure accuracy when packing take-out orders. Present guest check to member for signature.
- Attend pre-meal meetings as requested by Manager.
- Print menus for each meal period as needed, making sure they are accurate and clean.
- Assist dining room staff with the setting and clearing of tables and refilling water.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Must possess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Must possess the ability to interact with members and staff on all levels in a professional, positive, and friendly manner.
- Ability to comprehend and carry out instructions.
- Ability to work as a team player and always maintain a professional appearance.
- Ability to use POS system.
- Ability to work all shifts - days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English, Bilingual a plus.
- Understanding of restaurant etiquette.
EXPERIENCE:
- Some experience as a Host preferred
- Experience with Northstar POS helpful
- Experience in managing reservations preferred
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
- ServSafe Sanitation certification required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to bend, stoop, lift and/or carry items up to 50 lbs
- Ability to assist in moving furniture when necessary
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to operate a computer
- Ability to move about freely in a multi-floor building
- Ability to work indoors or outdoors, in many weather conditions
