What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle School Director position at Rolling Hills Community Church?

We're looking for a Spirit-led, passionate and determined Middle School Director with a heart for, not only the current students in our growing Middle School ministry, but also reaching unchurched and unreached students and their families in our growing and vibrant community. 



OBJECTIVE

To work under the direct supervision of the Central Students Director and in cooperation with the Family Ministry Team of the church staff in carrying out the five functions of the New Testament church: worship, evangelism, discipleship, fellowship, and ministry for the church. Fundamentally, the Middle School Director will lead the middle school ministry and the team responsible for ministry leadership with middle school students and their parents.

EXPECTATIONS

- Live an exemplary life modeling the call, character, and competencies of a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

- Be a servant leader to his or her staff and teams of volunteers, the families and the overall church body.

- Grow personally in their own leadership and ministerial abilities by reading, attending conferences and having godly and professional mentors in their life.

- Be involved in the overall life of the church body by being a partner/member, actively participating in a community group, church-wide events, and functions.

- Be an excited and contributing member of the RHCC staff team.



RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide middle school ministry vision, strategy, and structure for programs and events. Also help provide resourcing and execution support as needed during various seasons at the regional campus level.

- Cast, represent, and communicate Middle School Ministry Vision and values (within the Family Ministry capacity) down to your team and volunteer leadership structure, up to your leaders, and out to parents and the community surrounding Rolling Hills.

- Develop Opportunities to Expand Team Learning/Growth and Equip volunteers.

- Develop a team of leaders to teach and nurture students sixth through eighth grade.

- Utilize various books, conferences, and other leaders to maximize growth opportunities.

- Be the lead learner for your team/ministry, always motivating everyone toward a highly teachable economy.

- Continue to discover and implement ways to train volunteers to be fully equipped in ministry.

- Always look for ways to encourage all volunteers and middle school staff.

- Create and nurture community for your staff and volunteers.

- Partner with parents to elevate their roles as the Primary Disciple Makers of their students.

- Connect with parents regularly to assess the way we are ministering to them and their teens.

- Provide ongoing resources that will help a parent disciple their teen.

- Engage parents with resources, events, and ideas related to the important mile markers of spiritual growth.

- Continue to evaluate the process for how your team engages guests.

- Lead your team in developing a follow-up system that will engage families at RHCC.

- Lead your team to manage gaps between age transitions from elementary to middle school.

- Inform all volunteers of best safety practices and behaviors when leading teens.

- Plan the Middle School Budget. Manage the Middle School Ministry spending and budget allocations to ensure ministry stewardship, growth, and goal achievements.

- Clarify Wins and Gauge Effectiveness for the Middle School Ministry.

- Evaluate and measure success for programs, teams, ministry events.

- Identify areas of growth and blind spots in ministry.

- Identify ways to engage the youth culture and reach the next generation.

- Provide support for teens to reach their schools for Christ.

- Create and monitor ways for middle school students to serve the Body of Christ. This includes discovering, understanding, and successfully utilizing their individual talents and spiritual gifts (Sunday Serves)

- Involve middle school students in local missions; Create opportunities outside of the church for serving.

- Create ways in how to reach unchurched families in the greater Nashville/Franklin area.

- Coordinate and lead events designed to reach out to new students, disciple maturing students, and include their families.

- Lead and Coordinate weekly Middle School Worship; sermon planning, teaching, worship, fun elements, strategic outreach nights, etc.

- Oversee scope and sequence for middle school small group curriculum.

- In addition to responsibilities to specific Middle School Leadership, the Middle School Director.

- Will serve on the larger Family Ministry team. As we seek to shepherd the whole family, it will be of the utmost importance that each person on the Family Ministry team supports the other.

- Intentional event planning throughout the year to engage and connect students to our ministry and growth in their relationship with Christ; Student Camp, Fall Weekends, Mission Trips, Girl and Guy specific events.


QUALIFICATIONS

- Education – bachelor’s degree; advanced education, while not necessary, is preferred. 

- Experience – Minimum of three years in church related ministry or the equivalent experience in working with students in other venues.
- Spiritual – Must be a professing Christian with a true calling and passion for ministry and a member of Rolling Hills Community Church.
