Reporting to the Senior Director of Merchandising, this role is a key player in Roller Rabbit's growth. The Merchant will be responsible for developing and executing merchandising strategies to maximize profitability, optimize inventory, and refine product assortment for an enhanced customer experience. This role involves partnering with the Senior Director of Merchandising on product assortments, sales plans, product pricing, and margin performance. They will work closely in partnership with planning and allocations to ensure strategic buying and inventory productivity. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for trends, be highly motivated, and the ability to work collaboratively with design, pd/production, marketing, ecommerce, and retail teams.
Description
What You’ll Do:
- Develop and implement merchandising strategies to align with the company's overall objectives and target market.
- Conduct research on fashion trends, market conditions, and consumer preferences to inform merchandise selection and pricing strategies.
- Analyze historical sales data and industry trends to identify opportunities for growth regularly.
- Suggest and help implement improvements to cross functional processes and tools.
- Partner with Senior Planning Manager on managing inventory levels to balance supply with demand, minimize stockouts and overstock.
- Assist in building seasonal roadmaps for design articulating newness needs per delivery with sku targets, as well as clear direction on carry forward products (where updates or newness is needed)
- Partner with the Senior Director of Merchandising on the selection of merchandise, ensuring it meets customer needs and aligns with brand identity.
- Support the Senior Planning Manager with unit buys for seasonal, core and in season reorders.
- Establish and maintain a ‘core items’ list each quarter, forecasting styles and colorways that will be significant contributors to the business.
- Develop highly collaborative relationships with all departments including planning, production, PD, design, marketing, ecomm and retail.
- Top of FormBottom of FormBuild effective relationships with store staff and gather feedback on product and customer preferences and issues.
- Provide training and guidance to store staff on product knowledge and merchandising techniques.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising, business, marketing, or a related field
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in fashion merchandising, buying, or a similar role in a retail environment
- Excellent analytical skills and business acumen
- Innate understanding of fashion trends, consumer behavior, and market dynamics
- Proven history of successfully driving sales results
- High taste level
- Self-starter
- Must be detail oriented, organized, and flexible
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with Shopify, Report Pundit, and Toolio is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
