As a CNC Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines to ensure efficient and accurate production. Your expertise will help maintain quality standards while supporting continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Duties
- Set up and operate CNC machinery such as CNC milling machines, lathes, and stamping presses to produce precision parts according to detailed blueprints and specifications
- Program CNC equipment using CAD (Computer-Aided Design), CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing), and CNC programming techniques to optimize machining processes
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and schematics to ensure accurate fabrication
- Perform routine inspections using precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and other quality control tools to verify part dimensions and tolerances
- Maintain machine calibration and troubleshoot mechanical issues with tools such as hand tools, welding equipment, or tooling setups to minimize downtime
- Handle materials safely using warehouse experience and materials handling techniques; operate forklifts when necessary for loading/unloading materials
- Support fabrication processes including welding, assembly line tasks, tooling adjustments, and packaging finished products for shipment
Requirements
- Proven factory experience working with CNC machinery in a manufacturing facility environment
- Strong mechanical knowledge of CNC equipment including CNC lathe, CNC milling machine, press brake machine, stamping press, and flexo press
- Skilled in blueprint reading, GD&T principles, CAD software like SolidWorks or similar design tools
- Familiarity with CNC programming languages such as Fanuc controls or other programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, and other quality control tools accurately
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and troubleshooting machine issues
- Knowledge of materials handling procedures and safety protocols within a manufacturing setting
- Capable of working on an assembly line with hand tools and supporting fabrication tasks such as welding or tooling adjustments
