The Chief of Staff serves as a key advisor and operational leader, working side-by-side with the President & CEO to transform vision into action and advance the organization's strategic priorities. As an extension of the President & CEO, this highly visible position partners with executive leadership, the Board of Directors, and cross-functional teams to drive organizational initiatives, improve operational effectiveness, coordinate executive priorities, and ensure accountability for key goals and projects.


In this role, you will help lead high-impact initiatives, facilitate executive decision-making, strengthen Board governance, and identify opportunities to improve processes, implement innovative solutions, and support organizational growth. Chief of Staff - Office of the President & CEO

Reports To: President & CEO

Salary Range: $90,000–$110,000 annually, commensurate with experience

Position Summary


The Chief of Staff serves as a key advisor and operational leader, working side-by-side with the President & CEO to transform vision into action and advance the organization's strategic priorities. As an extension of the President & CEO, this highly visible position partners with executive leadership, the Board of Directors, and cross-functional teams to drive organizational initiatives, improve operational effectiveness, coordinate executive priorities, and ensure accountability for key goals and projects.


This is more than an executive support role, it is an opportunity to help shape the future of a growing, mission-driven organization by strengthening executive operations, Board governance, strategic initiative management, organizational effectiveness, stakeholder coordination, and high-level support to the President & CEO.


Key Responsibilities


Board Governance & Executive Support

• Serve as the primary staff liaison and coordinator for the Board of Directors and Board committee operations.

• Partner with the President & CEO to develop Board agendas, meeting materials, executive reports, and presentations.

• Attend Board and committee meetings, document key decisions, track action items, and ensure timely follow-through.

• Maintain accurate governance records and support Board engagement, compliance, and effective governance practices.

• Ensure Board-related communications and processes are handled with the highest degree of accuracy and confidentiality.


Strategic Partnership & Executive Leadership

• Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic thought partner to the President & CEO.

• Translate organizational vision into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.

• Manage executive priorities and ensure alignment between strategic initiatives and operational execution.

• Prepare executive briefings, presentations, reports, correspondence, and decision-support materials.

• Represent the President & CEO in meetings, projects, and organizational initiatives as appropriate.

• Anticipate challenges, identify opportunities, and recommend solutions that support organizational success.


Strategic Initiatives & Project Leadership

• Lead and coordinate high-impact, cross-functional strategic initiatives from planning through implementation.

• Develop project plans, timelines, performance metrics, and accountability measures.

• Monitor progress toward strategic goals and provide regular updates to executive leadership.

• Support organizational growth initiatives, including new programs, partnerships, and expansion opportunities.

• Conduct research on industry trends, emerging technologies, and operational best practices to inform executive decision-making.


Executive Operations & Organizational Effectiveness

• Coordinate executive priorities, leadership meetings, retreats, and planning sessions.

• Ensure timely follow-through on executive decisions and organizational action items.

• Facilitate communication and collaboration among departments to support organizational goals.

• Identify opportunities to improve organizational efficiency, workflows, and operational effectiveness.

• Lead process improvement initiatives and evaluate technology or AI solutions that improve productivity.

• Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

 

Stakeholder Engagement

• Build and maintain strong relationships with executive leadership, Board members, community partners and external stakeholders.

• Serve as a trusted liaison on behalf of the President & CEO

• Handle confidential information with the highest degree of integrity, professionalism, and discretion.


Qualifications


Required

• Demonstrated experience working directly with a Board of Directors, Board committees, or governing body, including preparing meeting materials, coordinating agendas, documenting decisions, tracking follow-up actions, and supporting governance processes.

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.

• Proven experience leading executive-level projects or managing strategic organizational initiatives.

• Exceptional organizational, analytical, and project management skills.

• Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Strong business acumen with the ability to think strategically while executing operationally.

• Ability to build relationships and influence across all levels of the organization.

• Proven ability to manage highly confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and business technology platforms.


Preferred

• Healthcare, nonprofit, or mission-driven organization experience.

• Project management certification (PMP or similar).

• Experience implementing process improvements, automation, or AI-enabled business solutions.
