We are looking for an experienced and diligent professional to join our team as a Director of Digital & Paid Media. This team member will help plan for, execute and report on the tactics of ROKK digital and paid media client campaigns, contributes to and executes on digital and paid media client strategies, and participates in timely communications with digital client points-of-contact.


Director, Digital & Paid Media 


Responsibilities:

  • Plan, launch, run, monitor, optimize and report on digital and paid media ads and sponsorships for clients.
  • Engage in digital and paid media vendor outreach and relationship building.
  • Lead and support integrated digital and paid media client teams by providing objective direction and feedback that inspires strategic, innovative, and creative ideas and tactics that have measurable impact.
  • Strategize on the fly and support digital and paid media clients and account teams on a day-to-day basis, providing counsel based on insights, trends, metrics, and competitors.
  • Embed in digital and paid media clients’ business, understanding ongoing business challenges and building meaningful relationships with teams and clients.
  • Draft and edit written materials such as digital ad copy and paid media recommendations, social media content and strategy, email and website content, client memos, and marketing presentations.
  • Compile and analyze social listening data for client key moments in time.
  • Generate ideas and tactics that advance our client’s digital and paid media objectives.
  • Project management as assigned by client team leads as well as helping coordinate adjacent creative, video and website projects.
  • Provide strategic counsel and support on social media accounts for communications campaigns when needed.
  • SEO/GEO auditing and analyzing of content and websites.
  • Daily interaction with senior and junior staff and clients via zoom, e-mail and in-person meetings.
  • Stay abreast of our clients’ interests through research and social media monitoring.
  • Ability and willingness to collaborate with interns and associate account executives to build the skillsets of more junior team members.
  • Understand and leverage ROKK’s network and resources at your disposal to better serve and meet client needs.
  • Introduce, build, and maintain new strong relationships with digital and paid media vendors across various tools, platforms, ad networks, and publishers.
  • Mentor, motivate, coach and help team members grow in their professional career.
  • Serve as an excellent steward of client budgets and work with finance team on behalf of clients and ROKK. 
  • Demonstrate strong storytelling and presentation skills, able to effectively author a deck, written proposal and persuasively deliver work to clients.
  • Contribute to the exploration and pursuit of new business efforts, from initial RFP response to client presentation and networking.


If you have the following, we want to hear from you:

  • At least 7-10 years of relevant experience in Digital & Paid Media Communications Marketing and/or related fields including public relations, public affairs, advertising, social media, creative, paid media, media planning, media buying. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Political Science, or related field.
  • Candidate must be able to work a hybrid schedule on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
  • Demonstrated presentation, verbal, written and communication skills.
  • The above required skills are including but not limited to: Programmatic (with comfort in DSPs such as StackAdapt), X, LinkedIn, Meta, Threads, TikTok, Snapchat, Google, Teads, etc. and Direct-to-Publisher campaigns and sponsorships (including but not limited to on-site ads, newsletters, events, etc.).
  • Experience using social listening (i.e. Meltwater), analytics (Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager) and AI tools, SEO/GEO, along with website advocacy tools (i.e. Phone2Action, Quorum, SoftEdge).
  • Superb people manager and experience successfully managing resources and budgets.
  • Entrepreneurial and professional and have the confidence necessary to deliver effective paid media results and growth. 
  • Solid track record of contributing to integrated paid media solutions for clients or team. 
  • A healthy appetite for news and information, especially related to the digital and paid media and corporate space, current affairs, politics and policy.
  • The ability to work independently and multi-task, with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • A willingness to offer creativity, a can-do attitude and enthusiasm for upleveling their own skill set.
  • A strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to prioritize competing tasks on tight deadlines.
  • An ability to anticipate challenges and proactively suggest solutions.
  • Respect for a culturally diverse team.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master hands on keyboard ability, fluency and strong vendor relations in digital and paid media, channel partners and the importance/role of social, digital and paid media in the communications marketing mix.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Adobe, Asana and InDesign knowledge a plus.
