Senior Power Originator
Job type: Full-Time, direct-hire, hybrid onsite
Schedule: 4X10 schedule, Monday through Thursday (2 days on site, 2 days remote)

We’re hiring a Senior Power Trader to support and lead long-term power transactions and portfolio strategy within a growing energy organization. For the first time in the utility's history, demand for energy outpaces production ability and secondary energy markets must be leveraged. Join us in this new and exciting operational strategy!
This role sits at the intersection of markets, deal structuring, and long-term planning—focused on building and optimizing a power supply portfolio through strategic, relationship-driven transactions.
Responsibilities
- Structure and negotiate long-term power transactions (energy, capacity, environmental products)
- Develop and manage relationships with utilities, IPPs, and wholesale counterparties
- Identify and evaluate new supply opportunities, including renewable and contracted resources
- Support portfolio optimization by aligning transactions with risk, pricing, and long-term strategy
- Monitor market trends and translate them into actionable deal opportunities
- Contribute to long-term resource planning and portfolio development
Requirements
- 5 years of experience in power origination, energy marketing, or energy trading (long-term focus)
- Experience structuring and negotiating long-term energy agreements
- Strong understanding of wholesale power markets and deal economics
- Experience working directly with external counterparties
- Ability to balance commercial, analytical, and relationship-driven work
Nice to Have
- Experience with renewables or hydro-based portfolios
- Familiarity with regulated or structured energy markets
- Existing network within utilities, developers, or energy trading organizations
