Procurement Engineer - Columbia, MD or Coppell, TX

The Procurement Engineer is responsible for selecting electrical components and equipment required for customer and development projects. The role involves close coordination with Design/System Engineering, Project teams, and the Procurement team as well as global corporate functions. This position is based either in our US headquarters office in Columbia, MD or at our Production Integration facility in Coppell, TX.
Your tasks

• Support customer projects from a Procurement perspective, pre-bid until ordering stage
• Support development teams with selection of suppliers according to the corporate strategies
• Ensure that selected materials meet the engineering specifications, regulatory standards etc.
• Create transparency in terms of decisions and costs in the material selection process
• Negotiate pricing, terms and delivery schedule in accordance with the project requirements
• Identification of synergies in between customer projects
• Locate new sources of supply and cooperate closely with suppliers and corporate Procurement
• Initiate or participate in value engineering exercises/projects
• Perform other duties as assigned by manager
  

Your Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and 5 years of work experience or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 8 years of work experience
• Experience in Procurement and Production is preferred
• Used to manage several projects at the same time
• Strong negotiation skills
• Experience with SAP
• Strong Microsoft Office software skills
• Customer and service orientation to a high degree
• Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment
• Able to achieve work results with minimal supervision
• Detail oriented and organized, good problem-solving skills
• Effective analytical, oral and written communication skills for customer/vendor relations and interfaces

The total compensation for this position is $83K-$117K. Total compensation includes base salary, variable pay (when applicable) plus benefits. The range is determined by the position, geographic location and level. Individual pay within the range is determined by several factors including location, education or training, relevant work history, sales incentive structure and job-related skills.
