Emergency & Critical Care Rogue Valley Veterinary Emergency (RVVE) Medford, OR
Full-time 3 × 13-hour shifts Rotating schedule including weekends and overnights
About Us:
Rogue Valley Veterinary Emergency is a privately owned emergency hospital providing 24 hour care to Southern Oregon and Northern California. Services include emergency triage and stabilization, critical care and ICU monitoring, emergency surgery, transfusion medicine, toxicology treatment, digital radiography, and in-house diagnostics. AI-assisted charting reduces documentation burden so time stays focused on patient care. Clinical decisions are made by the people in the building.
Schedule
3 × 13-hour shifts per week on a rotating schedule that includes weekends and overnights. The clinic operates Friday through Monday, 24 hours. Schedules are posted well in advance. No mandatory overtime.
Responsibilities
- Triage incoming emergencies; obtain comprehensive patient histories and perform independent patient assessments including vital signs, pain scoring, and monitoring trends
- Place IV catheters in routine and complex cases; manage fluid therapy, CRI administration, and catheter patency
- Perform venipuncture in peripheral and central locations per protocol
- Lead or assist with anesthesia setup, monitoring through induction, maintenance, and recovery; assess depth and communicate concerns proactively
- Perform and interpret Tier 1, Tier 2, and advanced diagnostics including cytology preparation, blood smear, and urine sediment evaluation
- Obtain diagnostic images independently; enforce radiation safety protocols
- Administer medications via SQ, IM, IV, and CRI routes under veterinary direction
- Assist with advanced procedures including cystocentesis, emergency stabilization, and transfusion medicine
- Maintain sterile fields and assist during surgical procedures
- Provide nursing care for hospitalized and critically ill patients
- Maintain accurate records using AI-assisted charting tools
- Serve as clinical mentor and resource for Tech 1–4 team members
CVT Level Descriptions
CVT 1 — $25.00 base: New graduates or those returning after a significant gap. Building ER-specific proficiency from a solid foundation.
CVT 2 — $27.70 base: Demonstrated emergency or critical care competency. Independent patient management across moderate-acuity cases.
CVT 3 — $30.30 base: Advanced clinical skills in anesthesia, diagnostics, and emergency response. Consistent resource to the tech team.
CVT 4 — $33.00 base: Mastery across all clinical domains. Leads workflows, mentors all tech levels, and holds clinical standards hospital-wide.
VTS modifier ( $7.50/hr): Stacks on CVT base rate immediately upon verification of AVMA/NAVTA-recognized board certification. Applies to every shift. ECC, Anesthesia & Analgesia, and Internal Medicine specialties are directly relevant, though all recognized VTS credentials are considered.
Qualifications
Required:
- Current CVT, LVT, or RVT credential (Oregon or reciprocal)
- Graduation from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technician program
- Ability to work calmly and decisively in a high-acuity emergency environment
For VTS modifier eligibility:
- Active VTS certification through an AVMA/NAVTA-recognized academy
Preferred:
- Emergency or critical care background
- RECOVER CPR certification
- Bilingual Spanish
Compensation & benefits
- CVT scale $25.00–$33.00 base, placed by experience | $7.50/hr VTS modifier upon verification
- Shift differentials: $3 weekend | $6 weekday overnight | $9 weekend overnight
