About Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity revitalizes neighborhoods, builds affordable and sustainable homes, and empowers families through successful homeownership. Rogue Valley Habitat for Humanity is part of a global nonprofit housing movement.
Through our ReStore, we fund our mission by accepting and reselling donated home improvement materials, furniture, appliances, and more, keeping usable materials out of landfills while offering affordable goods to the community.
Position Overview
The ReStore Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth and external donor development through business partnerships, merchandising strategy, and retail performance. This role focuses on acquiring high-quality donations and maximizing their value once they reach the sales floor.
The Sales Manager provides direct leadership for sales floor operations and front-end staff, with a focus on merchandising, customer experience, and overall retail performance. This position works in close coordination with the Donations Manager to align sales floor needs with incoming donations. While the Sales Manager focuses on external sourcing and retail execution, the Donations Manager provides primary leadership for shared staff across donation intake, warehouse, and logistics functions. The Sales Manager does not primarily oversee donation intake, processing, or logistics operations.
The ReStore Director provides overall oversight of operations and ensures alignment between roles. All three positions coordinate daily priorities to maintain an efficient workflow from donation intake through merchandising and sale.
This is a performance-driven role with clear expectations for outreach, relationship development, and revenue contribution.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Donor Acquisition:
- Develop and maintain relationships with businesses, contractors, retailers, and community partners
- Identify and pursue new donation opportunities aligned with store needs
- Conduct outreach through in-person visits, networking, and follow-up communication
- Represent the ReStore at community events, trade shows, and outreach opportunities
Sales, Revenue & Retail Alignment
The ReStore Sales Manager is directly accountable for driving retail revenue, optimizing inventory flow, and achieving established sales targets to support Habitat’s mission. While specific financial benchmarks are set annually and quarterly by executive leadership, core responsibilities and expectations include:
Revenue Target Ownership: Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly retail sales goals through the strategic execution of pricing, merchandising, and promotional strategies as directed by the ReStore Director.
Strategic Donation Sourcing: Focus on procuring high-value commercial, corporate, and residential donations that align with current store needs, yield high-margin sales, and ensure rapid inventory turnover.
Average Ticket & Conversion Growth: Optimize front-end operations and implement on-the-floor strategies designed to increase customer conversion rates and average transaction values.
Performance Metrics Alignment: Translate weekly outreach activities—including phone calls, in-person meetings, and community partnerships—into measurable, sustained store revenue growth.
Inventory & Capacity Collaboration: Partner closely with the Donations Manager to evaluate incoming donation volume, category mix, and warehouse storage capacity.
Forward-Looking Inventory Management: Work jointly with the donations team to identify solutions for storing high-quality items that have strong future retail value, even if they do not align with immediate sales floor demand.
Balanced Workflow Support: Help maintain a steady, balanced flow of inventory from the intake pipeline to the sales floor to support both immediate daily sales targets and long-term merchandising opportunities.
